Travel Medical Insurance

If you are heading overseas then remember to arrange your travel medical insurance before you leave.

Whether you are merely heading off for a short trip for a few days or planning an extended trip overseas, it is important that you have the right travel medical insurance plan tucked into your pocket just in case.

None of us wants to be sick and, thankfully, the majority of us are fit and well and have had many holidays abroad without having a problem. However, we all know people who have not been quite so fortunate and also realise that it is only a matter of time before we encounter a problem ourselves.

Many countries have good healthcare facilities and, in fact, many have medical facilities which are even better than we enjoy at home. However, care is rarely free.

For instance, on a recent trip to the Far East I was unfortunate enough to contract food poisoning after eating at a local seafood restaurant. Luckily, I recovered fairly quickly but I did nevertheless have to be taken to hospital by ambulance in the middle of the night and spent a total of two nights in the hospital. I received excellent care but the bill was high and so I was very pleased that I had arranged travel medical insurance before leaving for my trip.
